Progress!

Just thought I'd show what I'm doing so far. I'm still waiting on the yarn for my sisters mitts that I owe her, so those aren't knit yet...

BUT I started one of the pairs for me hehe. They are the Orchid ones from Knitspot. It took three tries to get them the right size, because my hands are so petite. I started on 2's with sock yarn. Too big. Next I tried size 1.5's with zephyr wool- silk. Too big still, and the stitches weren't dense enough. Finally I dropped to size 1's and used a little bit thicker lace. Malabrigo Lace in Marine. Perfect! I am at the thumb gusset on the first one. I also finally ripped back the top of my Whitewater mitts. I didn't like the stockinette, so I did the twisted ribbing and I think it's much better. I might pick up around the thumb and make it a little longer. I like my thumb covered.

I agree -- both are lovely! I'll be interested to see how lengthening the thumb on your Whitewater Mitts works out. I just finished my first one and am not digging the tiny thumb so much either.
