Hi all - you didn't think I forgot about our October Contest did you??? For those just joining us, I'm running giveaways for Sept, Oct and Nov, each month of the knitalong. To be eligible you must be a member. If you haven't already joined up feel free to shoot me an email with the info in the welcome message in the sidebar and I'll get you setup.
Anyhow- for the Oct contest I wanted to do something a little different than last time. I've had a lot of people say how helpful the pattern links in the sidebar are and I'd like to really build up our list of fingerless mitt patterns, either free or for sale. Leave a comment on this post with a link to your favorite pattern. If it's already in the sidebar or someone's already posted it, that's OK too! Just let us know that it is! I'll leave the comments open for a week, contest closes next Wednesday, Oct 24th at 8:00am EST.
And the prize? Many of you were inspired by the beaded pulsewarmers that have been made and wanted to make some of your own. The prize is a complete kit to make the warmers, it comes with yarn, beads, a bead needle and 4 different patterns for you to choose from. It's a beautiful set and I think it will make someone very happy!
Good luck and happy pattern hunting!
=) Keri

Here's a free pattern I found on Ravelry that I like the looks of:
Braided Cable Fingerless Gloves:
http://longrunknitter.blogspot.com/2005/11/pattern-braided-cable-fingerless.html
I really love the look of these mitts on the cover of Yarn Forward Magazine, they are made using Rowan Tapestry yarn and I can't wait to make some! Here's the link to the magazine http://www.yarnforwardmagazine.co.uk/
How about these great basketweave mitts:
http://www.ariadneknits.com/patterns/ow_basket_arm.html
Dare I say my favorite pattern is a modification of pomatomus at knitty.com?
There isn't a pattern-- but I described everything here: http://fallfingerlessmitts.blogspot.com/2007/10/fingerless-pomatomus.html
Well, Fetching is my all-time fave. I'm almost finished with my second pair.
As patterns go my favourite is from Cider Moon - http://cidermoon.com
Pattern entitled April May.
Carolyn
It's just a simple mitt designed for less than one skein of koigu but it's mine so it's a favorite :)
a link to the file is on my blog sidebar here:
http://fluffyknitterdeb.blogspot.com
I really LOVE Petra's Cabled Mitts too! I've knit those a few times!
I have one that is free at my blog. The first pattern I ever designed!
Victoriana Gloves
http://stitch-therapy.blogspot.com/2006/10/victoriana-gloves.html
I also really like these ones that I'm making for my sister right now and they are free! They are also much easier than they look.
Dragon Scale Mitts
http://www.purlbee.com/dragon-scale-mitts/2007/1/12/pattern-for-dragon-scale-mitts.html
Also they aren't exactly fingerless gloves, but they are SO cute, I had to mention them. Free from Knitty:
Mrs. Beeton
http://www.knitty.com/issuewinter05/PATTmrsbeeton.html
These are free also and pretty!
Bronte's Mitts
http://www.kurrajonghandcrafts.com/patterns.htm
And one more that I have been wanting to make forever and haven't found the perfect yarn for:
Seaside
http://magknits.com/Sept06/patterns/seaside.htm
My favorites are the Endpaper Mitts, of course and I'm working on #2 and have evne #3 lined up. What can I say, they are addictive.
Here is the link to the mitts I designed.

(I totally forgot to email it to you when I posted it)
= )
Of those I've done? Dashing!!
http://knitty.com/ISSUEspring07/PATTdashing.html
Can't wait to check out some of these others though :-)
i've posted a few additional free patterns over the past month but they haven't appeared in the sidebar...should i go search my posts and repost them all here?
of those that i've posted, i've only begun one pattern--Maine Morning Mitts from Clara Parkes upcoming book. i'm really enjoying it! here's the link again:
http://www.knittersreview.com/Maine_Morning_Mitts.pdf
Hi there. I have made fetching and am working on another pair. I do love the ways these look though and would really enjoy making them. I haven't checked to see if any of these have already been posted. These are just those that I have either made or saved the patterns:
Merino Stripe Cabled Gauntlets:
http://www.straw.com/cpy/patterns/merino-stripes-gauntlets.html
and my 13 year old daughter wants these. They are more like cuffs with beads and ruffles. The idea is to use little bits of yarn left over in your stash or maybe when you want to use a really expensive yarn but really cannot afford a major purchase. LOL.
http://www.knitty.com/issuewinter05/PATTmrsbeeton.html
And, these are super fabulous.
http://www.knittingonthenet.com/patterns/mittensgauntlets.htm
Right now my favorite pattern is the one Nanda mentioned the other day: the Maine Morning Mitts.
http://www.knittersreview.com/Maine_Morning_Mitts.pdf
I have also knit the diagonal rib wrist warmers in Last Minute Knitted Gifts and enjoyed that pattern, too.
I already posted on this blog a link to my new free pattern for a basic fingerless glove with thumb gusset for fingering weight yarn; but since it's not on the sidebar and people may have missed it, I'll post it again:
http://hitherandyarn.wordpress.com/2007/09/24/mini-mitts-and-piano-mitts-pattern/
I also have a free pattern for thumbless fingerless mitts, with instruction to custom-fit to most any gauge yarn (I don't think much heavier than worsted works well, though) and with three different sizes. That's in MS Word format in my free patterns section:
http://hitherandyarn.wordpress.com/free-knitting-patterns/
These are my favorites, and I knit them over and over as they're such popular gifts. But I purely love Petra's mitts (in the sidebar already) and have 1 1/2 mitts done (trying to find my 2nd skein of yarn!); and I am determined to knit Fetching and the Endpaper Mitts very soon! I have yarn for one now and yarn arriving in the mail tomorrow for the other.
I just printed off "Smocked Gauntlets" - Haven't made them yet, but I will...

Little Gems Mitts
The pattern isn't free but it is contained in the Holiday 2007 Interweave Knits magazine.
You can take a peek at them at this site (scroll down):
http://www.interweaveknits.com/holiday/holidaygifts/gifts_preview.asp
ok, i've looked back through my previous posts and here is another free pattern not listed on the sidebar:
Je Suis Mitts from Knitscene
http://www.knitscene.com/projects/2006/jesuismitts.pdf
I knit a pair of Hurry Up Spring Armwarmers from Stitch'n'Bitch Nation last year and really enjoyed that pattern, cably branches and leaves, worked in Noro Kureyon. Right now I'm working on Composed Mitts from the Fall IK, colorwork with a little texture, also fun to knit.
Ok my all time favorite are the Natalya mitts, they do take more time than the shorter length cuffs but are worth it. I love mine - wear them everyday now - warm / cosy and so many people have come up to me to touch them. Ha!
Vanessa
and here's another free pattern i just found on ravelry:
Alpaca Mitts by Boogie Knits:
http://www.spunkyhats.com/boogiepattern_alpacamitts.htm
Wine and roses mitts - interweave winter 2006
Have you seen these? they're gorgeous!
interweave photo:
www.interweaveknits.com/preview/2006_winter.asp
or on ravelry: www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/wine-and-roses-mitts
My fave pattern is the one I used for the mitts I just posted, and which is the first pattern listed in the sidebar. Very nice cabling!
Hi--I can't wait to see the list after all these are put on there! I've been knitting the Lace-Up Fingerless gloves from Alterknits and love them...of course you have to buy the book so not sure if they count. Another link I just ran into that I'm going to try are Lake Park Gloves. They aren't completely fingerless but the fingers are only knit up halfway so I think they count. I haven't tried them yet, but I really like the pattern and style of the glove...go to this link for the free pattern!
http://www.marniemaclean.com/patterns/lakepark/lpgloves.html
Thanks Keri for making this blog and KAL a great resource!
I really like the Delicato Mitts (already on the sidebar). I made some last year but I seem to have lost one of them :(
I just found the Campanula Mitts (link to PDF) on Ravelry and I think they are going to be my next pair. I love how they look in that striping yarn!
My favorites are Wine and Roses from Interweave Knits Winter 2006. I haven't made them yet, but they're next on my list!
I already sent you the link before I saw the contest! Here it is again! I think they're beautiful and will probably be making some soon: http://sleepyeyesknitting.blogspot.com/2006/12/pattern-christmas-eve-cabled-mitts.html
I'm surprised no one has mentioned this pattern yet -- nor is it listed on the side bar:
Nicolas's Fingerless Gloves which is a free web pattern at Interweave Knits website:
http://www.interweaveknits.com/freepatterns/pdf/fingerless_gloves.pdf
It's a no-cable-needle cable pattern on the backside and stockinette on the palm using DK weight yarn (5.5 sts/inch on US 5 needles)
They are next on my list
I use so many fingerless gloves and tend to keep extras in the back of the jeep for those riding with me..and talk about easy knit gifts! I love Kaity's pattern:
http://punkrockpatterns.blogspot.com/
here's my fav....it looks simple and quick, but still really nice for gift giving :)
http://www.knittingatknoon.com/fingerlessmittenpatt.html
sorry for the double post, but I forgot about my friend Becca's gorgeous mitts here:
http://whimsicalknittingdesigns.blogspot.com/2006/11/touch-of-whimsy-fingerless-gloves.html
I am a big fan of both dashing and fetching however I used Natalya by Jodi Pirrello for the half fingers on my husbands's dashing.
Sorry my computer froze up when I was trying to post before.
I love these!
http://www.thegivingflower.de/?page_id=78
They are the second pattern down. I just e-mailed you to join. I hope that went thru! I am making quite a few fingerless mitts for Christmas presents. Thanks for having this KAL
I'm loving Knucks from Knitty, Summer 2006.
http://recyclemicol.vox.com/library/post/hand-springs-fingerless-mitts---free-knitting-pattern.html
this is my current fave for fingerless mitts
